Sculptor Seward Johnson is presented with a medal by Warren Hegg of the Spirit of ’45!

Sculptor Seward Johnson is presented with a medal by Warren Hegg of the Spirit of '45 organization in front of the Key West, FL art museum. The medal, which has also been presented to Norman Lear and Ernest Borgnine, honors Johnson for his artistry and for the specific meaning and beauty of his sculpture “Embracing Peace,” shown here. The 25-foot tall bronze sculpture, as well as a life-sized casting, have traveled the world (Rome, Normandy, Belgium, San Diego, New York, Detroit) evoking personal histories and serving as a reminder of the heroism of the Greatest Generation.Read more

“Embracing Peace” in Normandy, France (Memorial de Caen) – Closing October 2nd

                                      The exhibition of the monumental-scale sculpture "Embracing Peace" in Normandy, France (Memorial de Caen) will be closing October 2nd. The sculpture has been enjoyed by thousands, and has been a moving and profound synergy of art and location. The piece now moves on to its next showing in Belgium.Read more

Return Visit is Restored for Gettysburg, PA

              Abraham Lincoln and the modern man, a Seward Johnson sculpture commissioned for Gettysburg, PA, received a complete restoration this week. Titled "Return Visit," the sculpture features the former President exploring The Gettysburg Address with a contemporary man. Enjoy pictures of the process here! It shows President Lincoln pointing to the bedroom in the Wills House where he put the finishing touches on the Gettysburg Address before delivering the short speech at the dedication of The Soldiers National Cemetery, Nov. 19, 1863.Read more

Annual Mayors Conference hosted in Carmel, IN

                              Revelers enjoy the bronze sculpture “Beautiful Riff” by Seward Johnson which portrays three jazz greats at the events of the Annual Mayors Conference in Carmel, Indiana. The background shows Carmel's Palladium at the Center for the Performing Arts. The sculpture features depictions of Louis Armstrong, Jack Teagarden and Sidney Bechet and will ultimately include a drum set, standing bass and a piano with the incomparable Hoagy Carmichael.Read more

Rolls-Royce Gathering – Biltmore Estate – Asheville, NC

                                                  Johnson sculptures were invited to join the gathering of all Rolls Royce owners of North America at the lush and gracious Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC.  A sea of VIPs and guests enjoyed the astounding collection of cars and the hospitality of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, hosted by St. James's House, London.Read more
