TOURS

Tours and demonstrations are available on a limited bases. We are always actively modeling, enlarging, mold and pattern making, metal working, and finishing surfaces with both paint and patina. The staff also perform comprehensive sculpture conservation, restoration, and installation services. Tours generally last 60 minutes and are available with group reservations. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

 

The Seward Johnson Atelier is dedicated to providing education and training in the art of casting, painting, and finishing services for sculpture. Additionally, our mission includes educating the public about public art through the example of the artwork of Seward Johnson, with an emphasis on understanding Mr. Johnson’s inspiration and career.

TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAY

Teacher Professional Development Days begin with a tour of The Seward Johnson Atelier.  Your group will be lead through the facilities where we will discuss each stage of production for creating a Seward Johnson’ sculpture. Following the tour, there will be either a workshop or demonstration featuring techniques used in the creation of Seward Johnson’s work. Your group will continue their visit at the Cecelia Joyce and Seward Johnson Gallery, where the group will discuss the finished works of Seward Johnson and their impact on our community. You end the day exploring the beautiful Grounds For Sculpture 42 acre property at your own leisure.

INTERNSHIPS

A small number of unpaid and paid internships are available. Internships are highly competitive. We will make every effort to match potential interns with the limited internships available.

Collections Management Internship

Collections Management

Collections Management will be accepting applications for one or two student interns on an ongoing basis.

Description The internship program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about projects related to documenting the permanent collection, inventorying and cataloguing objects, database management, and special projects.  Internships for college students and others are available.
